There may be a sea urchin pressed into it — crystallised, perfectly legible, sixty-five million years old — and under Danish practice here, it is yours to take home. The Cliffs of Sangstrup and Karlby run for five kilometres along the north-east coast of Djursland, rising to seventeen metres, and they are made entirely of a tropical reef that stopped growing before there were primates to look at it.
