Photo credit Parrot of Doom, CC BY-SA 3.0. Walk out to the end of Grenen and the ground narrows until it is barely wider than a footpath, water on both sides, and then it simply stops. To the left is the Skagerrak; to the right, the Kattegat. The two seas arrive from different directions and meet head-on in a ragged seam of clashing wave crests you can watch from a few metres away. People line up at the tip to stand with one foot in each sea. Nobody swims. The currents that collide here have killed people, and bathing is prohibited along this whole stretch of shore. It is a strange place for a country to end: not a cliff or a headland, but a spit of loose sand that is still being built.
