The result is exported to Germany as cavecheese, which is a fairly literal name for it. In winter the same tunnels fill up with roughly 10,000 hibernating bats. That combination - industry, geology, and wildlife occupying the same hole in the ground - is a decent introduction to Skive, a town of 20,092 people at the base of the Salling peninsula, where the Karup Å empties into Skive Fjord and the Limfjord opens out around it. Nothing here announces itself loudly. Almost everything rewards a second look.
